A Collaboration to End Homelessness
The 5Cities Homeless Coalition is continually working with local service providers, the faith community, service groups, and community leaders to assess current services and opportunities for collaboration to provide for immediate needs (not currently being met) that lead toward self-sufficiency. Below is an updated compilation of resources available in southern San Luis Obispo County.

Good Samaritan Shelter
What is Provided:
- Case Management
- Public benefits assistance
- Advocacy on financial management, well-being, and long-term housing stability
- Substance abuse wellness and recovery action plans (WRAP)
- Temporary financial assistance (deposit/rent/arrears/utility/child care/transportation)
HUD-VASH referral and collaboration Eligibility:
- DD214 with discharge other than dishonorable
- Household income not exceeding 50% of AMI
- Be currently homeless or at imminent risk of losing housing
- Provide proof of income, proof of homelessness, state ID

Health Insurance Counseling and Advocacy Program (HICAP)
Helps Medicare Beneficiaries:
- Understand Medicare coverage
- Compare Supplemental Insurance and Medicare Advantage Plan policies
- Identify the most cost-effective Prescription Drug Plans for their needs
- Learn about help available with paying for prescriptions
- File Medicare and Medicare Advantage appeals

S.A.F.E. South County Youth Coalition - Arroyo Grande
Services Affirming Family Empowerment (S.A.F.E.) South County Youth Coalition are one stop shop Family Resource Centers to help children and their families coordinate the services they need. They help with clothes, food, and counseling, medical, dental, school system advocacy, parenting classes, support groups and outreach and prevention services as well as intensive services for families who need case management.
