The 2022 Hope for the Homeless Golf Tournament raised nearly $16,500 for 5Cities Homeless Coalition programs and services in SLO County.
The annual event was held at Pismo State Beach Golf Course. Over 120 golfers played the course in teams of five, competing for the title of 2022 Hope for the Homeless Tournament Champions. After the tournament’s conclusion, golfers and their families headed to the Course’s event tent, where a Tri-Tip BBQ Lunch was served, a raffle and silent auction were conducted with gifts donated by local businesses, and live music was performed by local band Shameless.
“We are so grateful for the continued support of our community,” said 5Cities Homeless Coalition Executive Director Janna Nichols. “It’s always heartening to see so many individuals, volunteers, businesses, and other organizations come together to support the unhoused.”
Many of those same partners work with the Coalition throughout the year to help those who are homeless or at risk for homelessness, according to Nichols. “While permanent housing is the heart of our mission, we work with many agencies to help move people toward self-sufficiency.” Money raised at the Hope for the Homeless Golf Tournament helps fund case management and a variety of programs and services, as well as providing direct financial assistance for families facing homelessness.
Major sponsors included Specialty Construction, Old Juan’s Cantina, Fin’s Restaurant, and the Pismo State Beach Golf Course.
5Cities Homeless Coalition is recognized as a leading advocate for the homeless in San Luis Obispo County. 5CHC strengthens the community by mobilizing resources, fostering hope, and advocating for those who are homeless and facing homelessness.
